While bike riding in the same area where Gabie was found, I noticed a little black kitten all alone in the woods. No houses around. On my return trip the kitten was still in the same place. Examined her closer, and decided she was abandoned. She was very thin. Named her Sheba. That was many years ago, and she is doing fine. read more

Cats should not eat dogfood. The main reason is that cats need Taurine in their diet. You may be able to find inexpesive cat food at feed stores in 50 pound bags. read more

Thank for visiting the St. Tammany Humane Society. The Zoo Too makeover could be a great opportunity for the shelter to be one of the the best in the region. I have adopted many loving animals from the shelter over the years and hopefully will adopt many more. I would love to see the shelter expanded for the benefit of all the animals. The cat cottage gives the cats a feeling of a home. I'm sorry your visit didn't include the fundraiser " Woofstock". It's always fun. Darlene Scheuermann Read less
