I volunteer as a cat adoptions counselor at my local shelter and I see similar stories too often. However, I will always remember the times (more than once) when someone came to the shelter wanting to adopt a cat. When I asked if they were wanting any specific type of cat, they said "We want to adopt one of the oldest cats here, because we know so many people will overlook them". Those are the times that keep me coming back and keep me trying harder. Read less
