Our Two Rescues
Photo 2 of 40
Casey and ZZ Sausages are our two rescued babies.
Casey is the Black Labrador, and she is now 2 yrs old. I help run the Utah Lab Rescue, when we got Casey in as a foster at 10 weeks old. At the time I was looking to rescue a puppy to start training in agility. So thats how we got that Crazy Casey. She is just the best dog ever, and I just love her. She is totally my baby. She is the best agility dog that I could ever have hoped for, and she loves it. Go Casey!!!
The Great Northwestern ZZ Sausages as my husband calls her is a special rescue. She is about 3 yrs old, and is Jack Russell/Boston Terrier Mix. ZZ was running down the middle of a 8 in. snow packed road at 11 pm on a snowy Sat. night. Dodging cars. My husband stopped to get her, and of course no collar, no microchip, just a wet, cold, and beaten dog. She was barely 9 lbs, now she is 28 lbs. And scared of everything. She had all the classic signs of being kicked, hit, and beaten. On top of all that she had several seizures the 1st few weeks we had her. We contacted all the local shelters, and posted over 300 filers every where, but deep down I knew no one was looking for her. And I'm kind of glad, cause I would have felt bad giving her back to that situation. After starting to put on weight, her seizures started to slow, and I can honestly say she hasn't had one this year. It took us a month to get her to stay out from under the bed longer then 5 mins. But after having her for months, we just fell in love with her, so we kept her ourselves. Even though she is still scared of a lot of things, but she has come along way. She has a great personality, and she makes us laugh everyday. She is just the best little dog, that I don't know how some one could have beaten her. She is just so sweet and loving. She has the cutest howl, and is just so silly.
Casey and ZZ are the best pals, and you can usually see them sleeping together on the couch. They do everything together.

God bless you for giving both of these dogs a wonderful life and a second chance at the happiness they deserve. It deffinitly sounds like ZZ has made some progress and has grown to realize that not all people are bad.
