Molly in the Mustard
Photo 113 of 131
Molly was rescued three years ago, having survived hurricane Katrina. After spending three months at the shelter being treated for a horrendous case of ringworm we adopted her. Together she and I learned to run agility, and only strengthened our bond as we learned how to work as a team. Seven weeks ago, everything changed.
We discovered that Molly has high-grade malignant lymphoma. After splitting open her pelvis to remove the tumor, the surgeon discovered she was so inundated by the cancer that he couldn't remove any of it. He asked us if we wanted her euthanized on the operating table.
Of course we couldn't do that to this young dog who had brought us so much joy, so we opted to bring her home and treat her with chemo.
She is responding well to the drugs and continues to teach us that the most important thing in life is to love every day we are alive. Six weeks after surgery and the vet said she could start doing agility again! She is back to her old self and we will cherish every moment we have left with her.

What a wonderful dog. Molly has definitely had a heart-rending life so far. She is so lucky that she survived Katrina, was rescued by an adoring person, discovered her natural God-given talents, and a wonderful outlet to use them. And now, I see no reason why she can't survive and thrive with this latest bump-in-the-road. She is a Survivor! I will add her to my prayer list. Congratulations, and Good Luck.

We have 7 Boder Collies and I would not trade my BC's for anything. They have taught me about being a part of life becasue they do "NEED A JOB". I to do agility, Disc (Frisbee), herding and good old fun with them. They are amazing and I look forward to the new pups in a couple of weeks. I'm glad Molly found a loving home.
My old dog Lacey (Aussie mix) had a tumor de-bulked twice on her upper lip. She has been on Prednisolone for over 8 months without the tumor growing back. Because of her age (16?) and the fact I've seen dogs not do well on Chemo, I opted not to. I am so glad you are both able to do agility again.
If you would like to create a 21 page storybook of her and her wonderful story, or anyone in fact, please contact me or visit my zootoo page to see my business.

Thanks for the comments, I'm glad to hear Lacey is doing well on Pred. I feel so lucky that Molly is responding so well. She was herding the lawn mower the other day! She is 100% back to normal and her happiness out on the agility course is infectious. I like running Paula in agility, but not as much as I love working with Molly. She has great drive and can work at a good distance and still maintain speed and efficiency. It's great to see other agility people on this site!

She's breathtakingly beautiful - she is obviously one with a courageous spirit and has already beaten some great odds - I pray for the miracle of complete recovery. Hold her close:)

Thank you for the kind words and prayers; I truly believe in both...
I hold her close as much as she allows me to!
Yes, this picture was taken in February by a friend of mine who is a semi-pro. photographer. The best part was that my friend came with me and helped me pick out frames, so the one this picture is in has a brown frame which really helps to bring out her brown eyes.
