World's Smallest Dog

Browse News

There's a dog in Kentucky named Boo Boo who has set her place in history for being the world's smallest pup.

According to the Guiness Book of Records, at just four inches tall and 18 ounces, the Long-haired Chihuahua from Raceland, Kentucky is about an inch smaller then the previous record holder.

Owner Lana Elswick says that when Boo Boo was born, she was the size of her thumb – and after six weeks weighed just 3 ounces.

The tiny dog had to be nursed with an eye dropper for the first few weeks before switching to a bottle.

Today she eats ground turkey and vegetables, and spends her days napping and playing.

what a good job of saving the little runt. Must be adorable. Easy to give a decent walk to-the perimeter of the house should do....

I hope this pup wasn't intentionally bred to be so small. Many health questions arise, as do ethical ones.

Booboo is strictly a status symbol. She cannot play and go for walks like other dogs. Normal size dogs might think she was a snack. In the house, she would have to be crated, because any kind of fall could kill her. This is so sad.

Doesn't anyone consider that the dog might just be a small pup? Why does it have to be a bad thing? I have a small Chihuahua and she was just a runt from a regular Chihuahua Mom and Dad. People should consider other aspects before posting mean stuff!! She is adorable!!

I don't think this is such a wonderful thing! Many breeders of toy and tea-cup dogs line-breed (A nice way of saying in-breed) to make these pups smaller! I'm not all for this. Go save a shelter dog! Spay and neuter your pets PLEASE! Stop breeding them!

Oh my, Thats tiny! I hope being that small does not produce more health problems! While the dog is adorable and all ... Do we really need more dogs bred and more litters when there are tons of homeless dogs out there that need love?
