World's Smallest Dog

Browse News

There's a dog in Kentucky named Boo Boo who has set her place in history for being the world's smallest pup.

According to the Guiness Book of Records, at just four inches tall and 18 ounces, the Long-haired Chihuahua from Raceland, Kentucky is about an inch smaller then the previous record holder.

Owner Lana Elswick says that when Boo Boo was born, she was the size of her thumb – and after six weeks weighed just 3 ounces.

The tiny dog had to be nursed with an eye dropper for the first few weeks before switching to a bottle.

Today she eats ground turkey and vegetables, and spends her days napping and playing.

I'd like to know how old she is....a photo, showing her in comparison with another object, would have been nice...

Boo is gorgeous. I wonder if she will be bred or if she is too tiny. I, too, have had to feed one of my Chihuahua babies with an eye dropper. He was born with a cleft lip and could not get enough suction with Mom.

So tiny!! I know she must be pampered - my worry would be what type of health problems would be associated with one so small. I think I'd have to carry her around all the time so no one would step on her!

it reminds me of the story of thumbellina, the world's smallest horse. She appears to be healthy.

I'm not sure you could even classify that as a dog!! I would think the dog's health would be a concern...but I'm sure its adorable. Very tiny

I'm sure this pup is super cute but breeding dogs this small is dangerous. Their health is at risk and to pass on those traits is a bad idea.

Oh, so tiny. This is too tiny. Yes, it surely could be unsafe for this dog. It is cute though, and I hope it survives.

Can you imagine? The size of her thumb when it was born! I wish the picture would have shown the size more clearly. Sounds like the dog is loved.

I personally don't like how they're breeding these dogs to be smaller and smaller. Teacup size is now the trend but I wonder at what cost to the dogs?

Too sweet!!! Given the report on her 'fresh' diet, sounds like the owner is quite doting... no need to worry that this little pup is living a great life and being well cared for. What one feeds their pet, says alot about the love an owner holds for their furry friend =)

What a sweet little thing. I hope that she can live a good life. I hope that breeders have not tried to downsize her because she could be too small to sustain her own inner organs. I do worry and fret.
