Amazing! It's so great that she found the horse she had to give up and that he's still alive and being cared for. I bet it was amazing to hear that she could visit him at any time. My old trainer recently gave a girl I rode with the horse she used to ride to retire. I only wish I could be that lucky!

What a lucky old horse. Most old horses are not lucky enough to be kept and loved. Glad they were able to find him!

This is a really great story. I was able to meet up with the horse I learned to ride on years after the fact, and it was awesome.

Now, I miss my ferret and cat. I went off to college so I gave my pet away. Glad they are all safe - why doesn't the husband get charged.

What a horrible father. I am glad that Isabella has a loving mother who is trying so hard to help heal the damage done to her. It is wonderful that they were reunited with Rio and that the 2 sisters who own him are so willing to share him.

The pictures of Rio as a young guy are gorgeous. I often think about some of the horses i rode as a kid at a rental stable. I don't think that they found just rewards for the joy they brought or for the service they provided. I will be keeping my pony till his last days, because I wouldn't be able to stand wondering if he's OK.

Good for you. I have also wondered about the horses and ponies I rode as a kid. I still remember almost every one fondly, but i'm afraid their lives didn't improve when the stable no longer found them useful.
There's a riding camp in my area-Sprucelands Riding Camp-where kids spend their summers loving the horses. I was horrified to find out that they will send horses to the killers if they are no longer fit to work. I would have assumed they would euthanize them.

just go to a horse auction and quietly find out who the killers are. they will buy Young perfectly healthy horses to make into meat which at one time was sent mostly to Canada. i am sorry and you have know idea how sorry i am. a lot of the horses i had with me when i worked in summer camps. Young beautiful healthy and child quiet. most of them went to the killers at the end of camp season. it seems it is really a terrible world out there

I'm happy for both her and Rio. He was an awfully handsome thing when he was young. I hope that knowing her again enhances the rest of his years.

What a great story! Reminds me of the two elephants in an elephant sanctuary who recognized each other after 30 years and are now inseparable.

This is a miracle, really. Pets of any kind help us learn to trust and to be better people. There is a reason that horse was found.

There are a lot of my pets that I would love to have back from my childhood, but, that will never happen.. I am happy for this woman. It reminds me of black beauty.

Really nice and moving story. You must watch the video. It will help you if you are burned out from reading so many stories about bad things happening to good animals.

Your right reading about so many of the horrible things that are happening to animals it helped to see the video. I also go and hug "my girls" after reading some of the stories as they are both rescues and as my husband says, "they won the winning lottery ticket" hopefully someday all animals will have the same fate as "my girls".

so cool that the horse seemed to recognise her. I don't ride, but I love to talk to the horses across my fence and appreciate it when they make a point to stop by and listen to me.
