I agree. It's great that they kept India when the girls went away to college instead of giving it away. Sounds like it was well cared for. I didn't realize they also had a cat, in addition to their dogs. I wonder how they got along? I guess the Bush's must be true animal lovers.

Sorry to hear about this, even though I dont care for Prez Bush, I sympathize with the family. That's a gorgeous cat, looks just like my newly adopted former shelter kitty.

RIP Kitty. A long life. But I find it strange that the cause of the cats death is not mentioned...anywhere. If old age, why not say it?

The first Kitty. Too bad we didn't hear more about the cat and less about trying to blame everything under the sun on the president.

Though it is sad why is it a big news story? When savillians loose their beloved pets it's not a big news story. Kindof like when the president elect and the vice president elect where looking for new white house pets. why is that big news stories? We should be more worried about our worsening economy, loss of MANY jobs and our soldiers who are dying every day to keep us all safe. Who cares if they get a new puppy or where they get it? This is not the important issues that should be big news.

While I agree that the loss of ANY pet is sad, when the pet is owned by someone in the public eye, that alone makes it a news story. Additionally, the story about our next president adopting a shelter dog will most likely precipitate an interest in adoptions at local shelters, and that is a very good thing. Using one's celebrity to further the cause of animals and get notoriety for it seems a lot better to me than endless stories about substance abuse and failure to wear undergarments.

18 years is a long life for a cat, but we are never really prepared to lose our animal family members. It seems really unfair that their lives are so much shorter than ours.

Oh how sad. But I think that India knew she had to leave the White House and didn't care to, so decided to go to Kitty Heaven instead! She looks a lot like my 11 year old Pepper who is starting to get some white hairs. I am glad she had a spoiled life until her end.

18 years old is a long time! It is always hard losing a pet, especially after having her for almost two decades. What an interesting experience it must have been for India to be a cat in the White House.

We heard so much about Barney that I never realized the Bush family included a cat - thumbs up. She must have had a great life - 18 years. Think of all she has heard/seen in at least one of her 9 lives. I wonder if she ever saw any of the ghosts in the Lincoln room.

It's always sad to lose a family member, but India had a nice long life and got to spend eight years of same in luxury. Those Bush folks may be sad to leave their home and leaving without India makes it even more sad. (I'm happy about the new occupants, however.)
