Veterinary Pet Insurance held their third annual walk for pet cancer awareness in Long Beach, California on November 14th. The event drew in a crowd of over 300 people. With the money they raised at this walk and the previous walk in Brooklyn, NY VPI earned over $14,000 for the Animal Cancer Foundation.
There are a number of reasons for people to attend these events. K9 in the City met with pet owners who lost their beloved animals to cancer, people and their pets who are currently treating cancer, and others who are walking solely for the cause.
November is Pet Cancer Awareness Month and, as explained in the video by CEO of VPI, Dennis Drent, there are three main goals VPI intended to achieve during this time: To inform the public of early pet cancer symptoms, to make known the possible treatments available, and to ensure that each pet owner is financially prepared in the case that their pet does, in fact, have cancer.

this is an alarming health issue in animals, and I am glad someone is doing so much to help with the cause.
it would be great if this was a national event held across the nation on a single day. think of what that could raise.
