According to a statement sent to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, former Atlanta Falcons star Michael Vick may take part in an anti-dogfighting campaign.
In the email sent last week, PETA said they would be very pleased, “If Michael Vick went on TV and said, 'Look at me. I have lost everything...My life is ruined...If you fight dogs, stop. And if you don't, don't start.' ”
But short of that kind of remark, the group says it is otherwise uninterested in working with him.
PETA President Ingrid Newkirk indicated that Vick's participation in such a campaign would allow the group to reach an audience it normally can't – and that's the only desire to work with him.
The animal rights group said it still feels Vick deserves jail time, and this maneuver would not alleviate his guilt – nor would it aim to improve the star's image.
Vick's representatives were not available for comment – his sentencing is scheduled for December 10th.
We haven't heard of any further plans just yet, so this is speculative for now.
