Whether they think the dog should get the money or not, they have no right to make threats. It's none of their business where the money goes.

This actually clarifies the more recent article. So, all along the trustees were designated to dole out the billions... It seemed like she meant for it to only go to animals while they thought otherwise.

People are so completely stupid, and have entirely way too much time on their hands. The fact that this dog was left a whole lot of money is simply none of their business.

Wow, some people just have too much time on their hands. If Leona Helmsly wanted to leave money to provide for the care of her dog, she's certainly justified in doing so. Looking at the article, she also generously donated to human charities as well, so I'm not sure where the problem lies.

I'm glad this dog is being well cared for, but 12 million is a bit much. I wish she would have donated some of it to help care for other dogs and cats that need the help.

It is a shame that there wasn't more attention paid to the money she gave to all kinds of charities--I didn't know about it either.

It has been interesting to see how things have come about in the past year. Last I heard is the money was being contested and that the shelters and animals might not see any of the money. If this was her wish and there is money left over, why couldn't it be used for that purpose. If she gave it to people, no one would be questioning it.

I'm still wondering if any pet protection groups have taken the time to write to the trustees to ask for some of the money. Why not?

I wonder how many people who take the time and stamps to write death threats to a dog actually expect the dog to read these letter and feel insulted or threatened by them

I find that people never cease to amaze me. This is just envy and greed. So the dog got money, so what! What Leona has done, and still apparently is doing should count for something. She is entitled to see her animal cared for.

There are a lot of sick and stupid people out there. Let the dog live out it's life and then the millions will go elsewhere. None of us have any claim to the money so if she wanted to burn it or bury it with her, fine.

I think she could have left a lot less to the dog and he still would have been very well cared for. $12 million sounds just a little excessive. I hope the dog is safe and nothing happens to him.

The money was hers leave to whomever she pleased, I do believe 12 million is a bit much however. But that is my opinion. I dont believe sending death threats to a dog is right, leave the dog and the caretaker alone.

I'm glad to hear more about what she did with her money. I didn't know about her charitable giving, had only heard how she had cut some of her grandkids out of her will and left all that money to her dog. It all makes a little more sense now.

I would imagine the wealthy don't know who they can trust with their money. Every one wants a piece of the pie. At least she put man's true best friend in charge! It may seem silly, but it is the best choice if you are not sure who else to trust in your life.

I'm glad to hear that Trouble is okay. And that the remaining dollars will be given to charities that deserve it. Yes, it's a lot of money, but it was Leona's money, and if she wants to leave it to her dog, then that's what she can do. And she did leave billions to other charities.

Death deaths aimed at a dog. What a world! Some of these letter have, no doubt, been written by some idiots who are trying to be funny. Some of the writers may indeed be serious, but I am confident that Trouble is safe and sound and will remain so. Too bad if folks don't like what Leona Helmsley did with HER money.

Threats to a dog over money. That's just ridiculous. Even if she left every cnet to her dog, it wouldhave been her choice. The dog had nothing to do with it. There was no greed with this dog. People are just nuts to threaten this dog.
