Sustainable Fashion Meets Custom Pet Costumes

Browse News

Halloween is all about originality, which means a stellar costume idea is paramount for pets and owners alike. While homemade costumes guarantee an exclusive unique look, who has the time -- especially in New York?

Amanda Byron Zeek does! Owner of The Salty Paw; a pet store meets doggy day care, Zeek turns her place into a design pet costume shop. She will measure your pet and help you design the costume. And if frugality is on the agenda, the "one-night costume wonder" is reversible, turning into a "regular wear" Gortex raincoat. Be careful, your dog may not want to leave this pet haven!

The Salty Paw is located at 38 Peck Slip in Manhattan, just around the corner from South Street Seaport, or online at TheSaltyPaw.com.

Everyone has good ideas.....as for me....wouldn't waste my money on a costume, but I can understand why some people would love this......especially the reversible part...at least this store is trying to make the costume more flexible and have it be worn as coat the rest of the winter! Happy Halloween!

If the pet is OK with it, why not? Some pets love to dress up, you can tell!

Usually I'm not big on clothes for pets unless they need the warmth but a minimum costume on a willing pet doesn't sound so bad. I enjoy crafting but not everyone does and as long as they don't ask me for $$$,they have a right to spend any way they want!
Right now, I'm putting together a Mad Scientist costume for my 10 yr grandson and am playing with some safe & simple ideas for his 7 mo puppy should he want to go out in their quiet neighborhood for a while.

Different strokes for different folks, but this seems silly to me. If you have that kind of money, why not make a difference and donate to a shelter or other worthy cause?

People work hard for their money so they should be able to spend it as they like. I personally wouldn't buy this as Baby despises clothes. What ever rocks your boat...go for it.

I agree. I do hope these people are also donating to charities that help animals, but it there pet enjoys it and they want to spend money on this, I have no problems with it.

I agree. But the idea of a reversible coat is not bad.

Actually--I do have a reversible coat for Max. He's just gotten too big for it. LOL.
