Just a reminder.....black dogs are extremely prone to skin cancer as they get older. Many times it starts in their toes and they have a tendency to chew and lick at the nail and the toe.
Don't discount this as a minor problem as skin cancer is severely aggressive and can spread to their lymph nodes extremely fast.
When in doubt..have the vet check it. Being proactive can save your beloved furperson's life.

This is something we need to remember year round here in south FL and it never ceases to amaze me how many people do not follow these guidelines. I am always hearing about pets left in cars, etc.

Great reminders for everyone. I keep my cat indoors all the time. It just seems safer for him and I can't imagine ever getting him wet or squirting him. I don't think he would be too happy about that one.

I am always prepared to take care of my pets in any season and any disaster as well. My pets always come first. Skitters, Teddy, Shorty and Spot are my life right now. There has been rain and cold weather like crazy in Longview and I have heard that there have been floods in portland oregon. I plan on just staying in town this weekend unless I decide to go to the lyodd center with my family this weekend. I am sure Skitters would rather have me stay home with her though. I really hope it warms up soon around here.

Leftover food, not my puppy! My cats are inside, I think I would be risking life and limb if I got them wet. On a slightly more serious note, these are all very good tips.

Hopefully, these are all good "reminders" for pet parents or, if not a "reminder", useful information for all to know!!!! Having this knowledge CAN prevent unnecessary death!!!

It was 88 degrees today and my cats had enough sense to come inside from the screened porch.
