Enjoy the Rainbow Bridge Socks and cudos to the Clintons. 18 is a wonderful age for a kitty and now that handsome tuxedo man is watching over them. How wonderful that the First Pets of this country are so loved!

I'm surprised that Chelsea did not take the cat with her after she finished college but who's to judge when they don't know all of the circumstances involved. I'm glad Socks had a loyal caregiver and may Socks Rest in Peace over the Rainbow Bridge.

Sad but at least he had a long happy life. I was a little suprised that the Clintons left him with someone else when they moved. I would have thought he would have gone along with them since he was a part of the family also.

People take such interest in presidential pets and their choices on pets and where to get them. I am glad to hear that Socks lived to such a ripe old age. The Clintons' treatment of their animals promoted awareness of animals as feeling creatures. It's good to see that the Obamas are proceeding in a very responsible fashion to adopt their dog. I would love to see them adopt a mutt from a shelter, but I understand that they need to adopt a hypoallergenic dog, so I hope at least they go to a rescue group.

This is so sad, I had a cat die of feline leukemia; it was heartbreaking. We got him the first chemotherapy treatment, but he was just too miserable so we had to put him down so he wouldn't suffer anymore. Socks was so cute, I'm glad he didn't have to suffer too much...

How sad! It's incredible how attached we become to our pets. It is so hard when they die but so worth it to have spent some time with them.

I have a stuffed animal of "Socks" that I got for Christmas the year the Clinton's moved into the White House. He was such a beautiful cat -- glad he lived a nice long life - I'm sure he will be missed alot.
