Actually, Socks was born in1989, which would make him 19 or 20.

My favorite Socks story was the time that the media was watching President Clinton jogging, and when he stopped to talk to them, Socks knocked the baseball cap off his head...Several times.

Rest in peace, Socks Clinton Currie.

So the Clintons set an example of cats as disposable temporary family members too. Sounds to me like when Socks was finished being the First Cat, he was also finished being the Clinton's cat.

I find it very interesting that a cat they had for so long ended up with a friend and didn't stay with the Clintons after they left the White House. Godspeed Socks!!

Hard to believe that this would make the pet news, but, after all, she was a famous kitty! Sad for those who loved her.

I hope the story sends a message to people regarding the abandonment of animals. But Thank God Betty opened her home for Socks and gave her the good life she had lived and deserved!!! I feel really sorry for Buddy (painful death being hit by a car). People need to learn that animals aren't to be thrown away like yesterday's trash!!! They are living beings that are soley dependant on us for Love and Care!!!

I don't think that pets are the Clinton's priority. They set a very poor example if you ask me.

RIP Socks. Such a cute picture. Since Buddy and Socks had a few "problems", perhaps the Clintons thought it would be best if Ms. Currie took Socks in (instead of having him go to a shelter) while they took Buddy with them. Too bad they couldn't have found a way to keep both pets with them. But it sounds like Socks had a good and long life.
