Normally a six-pawed pooch wouldn’t have much to bark about but thanks to an Australian vet, a puppy named Octopus has a lot to live for.
Octopus was born with a rare deformity that caused the bones in his front legs to split and grow into double paws. Because of this deformity, he isn’t able to walk or stand on his own.
Luckily for Octopus, Stephen Lehner has offered to perform surgery and is currently looking for the best options for the puppy.
Lehner said that he has only seen similar situations two or three times in his 15 years as a vet.
While Octopus’ right leg may need to be amputated, Hong Kong Rescue hopes to adopt him into a good home once the surgery is performed and recovery is completed.
Lehner said Octopus has a long road ahead of him. With an owner who is loving and strong-minded, Lehner says that Octopus will live a life he wouldn’t have been able to otherwise.
