I never thought about this before reading this article that blood donations were needed for animals also. Glad this lovable dog was honored.

Our local emergency clinic contacts the local Spca for blood donations. Well adjusted, healthy pets awaiting adoption are carefully chosen. A great way to earn their room and board. Plus if their cage is tagged with "I am a blood donor" it helps them get adopted faster. Everyone loves to adopt a hero!

I am glad that some dogs can donate blood. If they didn't we would be able to save dogs lives. I know if my dogs needed blood and there were no dogs donating blood to them. I'd be really upset.

Great coverage of a little known public need. How often do pet owners recieve requests from the vets for blood donations during their visits? It's common practice for friends and family of patients in hospitals to get requests to donate blood. Why not be a bit more public about the need for donation? I'm sure there would be an overwhelming response, considering the caring nature of most pet owners...
