It's odd that the mother would abandon both cubs. Hopefully, the villagers' story will be checked out but I fear that the mother was killed. It angers me that such beautiful animals are destroyed by ignorance and greed.

Tigers should not be in captivity. Maybe if they were not hunted as much as they are they would have no problem surviving in the wild...free of human intervention.

The poor girl. I was so hoping that she would pull through this horrible experience. It's nice to know they did everything they could though.

How sad. What a shame for any animal to have to die this way, especially endangered species.

I was so hoping this would work, sure he gave it the fight of his life. What a sad way to lose your life, thank goodness they tried to save him, and perhaps learned something in the process

That is so very sad; I'm sure those vets shed some tears. Maybe they learned some technique that might help another animal, though.

That truly compounds this loss. It hits me twice as hard knowing the tiger died AND knowing it's at the hands of humans...sad.

Well they tired and you cant save them all. BUT WHAT ABOUT THE SISTER OF THIS CUB?!? Poor thing might be all alone. :[ Well, at least the cub is in a better place now and out of it's misery sometimes you just need to look at the good-bad side. Sure the poor cub is gone, but it's no longer suffering in pain. Sometimes the negativity is the best way to look at things. They tried and thats all you can do, whether or not we accepted that is a personal choice but it's true. R.I.P

Definitely not the update that we were all hoping for. We can hope that her sister does OK without her, and be thankful for those individuals that are actively fighting to save the wildlife.

I am so sad that the cub died. Every loss of life is sad but when its an endangered species, its especially horrible. The people who did this should be punished.

Well no one really "did it" of what i understand of the article was that it was born with this disease and the medical team tried their hardest. And i agree, every lost is a sad one but will being sad bring them back? No. But i do agree it is very sad, and we shall NEVER forget his memory!!!!!

Actually, people ARE responsible, it wasn't an illness that caused this. The villagers did this, they attacked and beat these poor little tigers! RIP little one.

As I stated on the original article, because of the lack of knowledge about blood groups for the tigers, I was afraid this would happen. At least the vets were able to save one of the tigers. I hope they gained some knowledge in their efforts and if this situation should ever come up again, they will have a better chance. Only wish I could be sure it would never come up again. . . Maybe it will give some zoos valuable information for the upkeep of their tigers.

The fact of the matter is that it is a rare sickness so the vets or medical team don't see this sort of thing everyday and having to deal with the loss and tranfussion probably caught them a little off-guard but they did the best they could even if their best wasn't good enough

Yah, dying of old age is one thing but dying young because your blood was "unhealthy" is a totally different thing. This is a huge loss. Well, at least the medical staff(s) are most likely more prepared and educated on this sickness the cub had.

POOR JUHI! Rest in Peace little tiger baby! I'm really sad that she didn't make it but at least the offcials in India tried to do something to save her. I hope her sister does well. Wildlife education really needs to be taught in 3rd world countries before all of our animals become extinct! Does anyone know of any organizations that are looing for volunteers?
