Pup Stolen From Petsmart Found

GEORGIA – A puppy stolen from a Georgia Petsmart last October has been found by animal rescue workers.

Rocky, a Rottweiler-Beagle mix, may have been stolen for his Rott bloodline. After months of scouring internet Web sites, animal rescue volunteers finally found the puppy onPetfinder.com

Unfortunately, the captors cut Rocky's tail to make him look more like a Rottweiler. June Flood of Alcovy Pet Rescue says the thieves may have abandoned Rocky when they realized he's not a pure bred Rottweiler.

It is fortunate that this little Rotti mix was found, and now may have a chance for a good home. After reading the story of the stolen pits, one of which ended up in a dumpster, stabbed in the back, you realize that this pup was one of the fortunate ones! There seems to be a lot of people without consciences in our world.

How do people not see that these animals they are abusing have feelings to?! I hope he finds a loving home. Wish I could take him in.

That is some dedication by those volunteers. I am glad they found Rocky and he was alive and well. Our shelter microchips all their cats and dogs that are up for adoption. We have had to recover a few or our dogs that were dumped at the Humane Society. If it wasn't for the chip hard telling where they might have ended up.

First I cannot believe that someone actually stole a pet from the pet store. I am glad they found him and hope he gets a good home.

Great work by the rescue workers to find him. He was very lucky that they kept looking for him. I hope he has found a forever home.

i'd have to say that rocky was lucky they didn't decide to sell him for dogfighting bait once they found out he wasn't a purebreed.

I hate animal mutilation ~ cutting off tails, docking horse tails, docking ears.....and that pales to how I feel about people who will steal animals for purposes that involve greed and worse.

I'm not a big fan of docking tails or ears either. I always wonder who decided it would look better to cut off tails and reshape ears. I'd rather see them as they are meant to look.

Poor thing! How awful to endure his tale being cut off! You have to do that when they are newborn otherwise it is very painful! I am so glad that they found him, and they are also very lucky they did! He deservese a great home!

usually places say what breed the dog is and if it is mix they add mix in there, did the people who stole it wasnt able to read or what?

How did they recognize him? Did he have a microchip? I'm glad they abandoned him because he could have had a horrible life otherwise. Hopefully now he will have the family that really loves him.

Sick, sick, sick. I hope stiffer fines and jail terms are given to people that steal animals and then to cut off his tail. How awful.
