Secaucus, NJ – Hartz Mountain Corp. has announced the recall of 3,600 bottles of Hartz Vitamin Care for Cats. Company spokesmen say Salmonella could have contaminated the product.
Both people and pets are at risk of illness if they come in contact with the product. No reports of illness linked to the product have been made.
Symptoms of Salmonella for humans and cats include fever, diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain. Children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk.
The voluntary recall is out for vitamins with lot code number SZ-16371 and with the UPC number 32700-97701. The product was manufactured by UFCA (USA) Inc. of Baconton, Ga.
