Product Recall for Cat Vitamins

Browse News

Secaucus, NJ – Hartz Mountain Corp. has announced the recall of 3,600 bottles of Hartz Vitamin Care for Cats. Company spokesmen say Salmonella could have contaminated the product.

Both people and pets are at risk of illness if they come in contact with the product. No reports of illness linked to the product have been made.

Symptoms of Salmonella for humans and cats include fever, diarrhea, nausea and abdominal pain. Children, the elderly and those with weakened immune systems are especially at risk.

The voluntary recall is out for vitamins with lot code number SZ-16371 and with the UPC number 32700-97701. The product was manufactured by UFCA (USA) Inc. of Baconton, Ga.

For more information you can call Hartz Mountain at 800-275-1414.

Again, mass producers like Hartz, concerns me. They are more apt to be in business for the money vs the true health of animals

i agree. it just seems that the big name companies care only about money, the small companies care more about the actual health of the animals that they are supplying for.

Hartz products have really gotten a bad rep. Are they not aware of what they are doing. Don't they care? What is their problem? I would not buy from Harts.

Very scary story to read. I am starting to really consider switching from big name products and going with organic and holistic products. Seems like companies like Hartz care more about money than the health of your pet.

Just as in the other article, these products are not to be trusted. We don't trust or use anything made by Hartz because you just never know when there will be a recall for a problem.

scary when we can not depend on companies that have been around to be safe because of crazy people. Did they ever find out more?

It is really frightening to navigate through a world where pet food, children's toys, spinach, boof, and now vitamins can be deadly.

I don't know what is happening at Hartz. They use to be one of the leaders in the pet world. There's been a lot of negative feedback about their products.

Yet another recall from Hartz? I am getting very concerned since I buy a lot of Hartz seed type treats for my birds in particular and some stuff for my rabbits. I am going to have to be more vigilant as to where this stuff is being made.

For a brand usually recommended, I've seen a fair few issues with Hartz over the last couple years. Usually more a matter of ineffective products.
