I found and this article to be very enlightening. I really never realized the variety of food products that had to be prepared everyday. I think that many times we just assume that they eat leaves, fish, or fruits and meats, not special worms.Sounds like the zoo kitchen would make for an interesting school field trip besides just seeing the animals.

I'm so fond of this zoo. We visited it last summer while on vacation in Denver and it was amazing! We were there for over 3 hours and I would have stayed longer if my two friends weren't practically dragging me out. They put a big emphasis on the earth, with all their sprinkler water collected from rainfall and pumped through irrigation lines, every product in the cafeteria being made from recyclable products (plates, cups etc), and even their gift shop has things like tshirts made from renewable plant sources like bamboo. After my visit, it's a place I'm seriously considering seeking employment when I graduate this fall.
