Pamper your pet at these fun, comfy boarding spots.

If your Memorial Day or summer plans require you to leave your pet behind, why not treat your pet to his own vacation at a playful, posh boarding spot?

Fortunately for both owners and their four-legged loved ones, the days of the dreaded kennel are becoming a relic of the past. New pet-centric resorts are now offering plenty of playtime and supervision, with extras such as grooming, training and even time at the spa!

With all of these indulgences, your pet may actually start looking forward to his next stay away from home!

Here are a few spots to help your furry family members stay happy and comfortable while you're out of town:

Nestled on six acres just outside of Philadelphia, Pa., Wagsworth Manor gives pets plenty of opportunities for outdoor exercise as well as indoor pampering. Four-legged guests can enjoy grooming and massage therapy, or cool off with an individual or group swim session in the safe, comfortable indoor pool -- perfect for a hot spring afternoon!

The Paradise Luxury Pet Resort in Palm Bay, Fla., proudly offers a policy of "no crates, no cages" for their furry guests. Dogs can socialize in suites according to their level of activity, with special "Senior Suites" and puppy areas for those dogs of a certain age. The resort also hosts "Pond Parties" for large dogs throughout the week, giving pooches a chance to socialize while they exercise.

The sterling accommodations for pets at Purr'n Pooch feature heated and air-conditioned rooms with custom ventilation, with adjoining exercise runs in certain private rooms for dogs, and a 22-foot waterfall for the felines in the deluxe "cattery." In addition to massage and grooming services, the Purr'n Pooch also offers a unique Swim Park, and transportation services -- including arranging flights for your pet -- to help him arrive in style.

D Pet Hotels of Hollywood -- the "D" stands for "distinguished" (and also for "dog") -- offers what you might expect an L.A. "luxury resort and spa," although the pampered guests are a little furrier than the hairless glitterati to whom they belong. In every one of D Pet Hotel's luxury boarding "suites," pups rest on modern queen-sized mattresses (that's right, the same ones we sleep on -- just put that frame a little lower to the ground). And for their viewing pleasure, every room has a 42" flat-screen TV to entertain them should they get bored with the three indoor dog parks, fully-appointed day spa, organic food and treats, custom photo shoots, and shopping at D Boutique. If your pooch is feeling a little too pampered, there's even a doggy gym complete with mini-treadmills, pet-cercise therapists, and fluffy white towels to dab off after a good workout.

Do you think that your pooch or kitty would enjoy one of these spots? Where do you board your pet when you have to leave town without him? Tell us below!

I could never leave Skitters, Teddy and Shorty behind. Plus none of them would do well in a kennel.
