It really is a shame they don't make provisions for a retired dog's medical expenses. I am sure the officers are willing to do it for their dear friend, but it could be very costly, especially when a dog has been injured in the line of duty.

Way to go Bowie! Glad the dogs are honored for their willing service when they retire and it looks like a great event. I'm happy the dog will remain with his handler and family but I still think they should receive SOME kind of stipend for future medical emergencies for the dog.

I'm glad the dog is being recognized, even though he hasn't a clue what is going on, except he gets a real treat--a peice of cake.
