ENGLAND – A paralyzed dog not treated by its owner had to be put down because the man refused to give it care.
Royal Society for the Protection of Animals officials said Bob the 15 year-old greyhound mix had paralyzed hind legs. The disability left the animal incontinent – resulting in infected open sores.
Owned by 54 year-old David Jewson, the dog was visited by RSPCA officials on different occasions – on each occasion Jewson was told to have the dog treated.
Bob was eventually taken from Jewson and later euthanized. His owner pleaded guilty to causing unnecessary suffering and was ordered to pay a $500 fine and over $1,000 in fees to the RSPCA.
Jewson may also not own an animal for 15 years.

Sounds like he just didn't care. Apathy can be the worst form of abuse. Treatment may well have been much less than the fine, not to mention the overall happiness of the dog (which is priceless).
