I am sure I would have to go back in to look for my dog, if a fire ever happened. These should someday be standard equipment for all fire stations. Good article.

I've seen firefighters using oxygen for pets on the news, but I never even thought about whether it was a human oxygen mask or a pet-specific one.

What a wonderful idea that family had in donating masks to the fire department. Now I'm going to check out the web site and my fire department to see if I can donate a set too. I knew about these masks, but didn't know they were that inexpensive. Thanks for the info.

Thank goodness our fire departments here are good with saving the animals. They have helped many animals. i'm not sure if they have the animal masks but i've heard of them using oxygen on them so they must. A pet is like family to most pet owners. So losing one is like lossing there own kids. all departments should have these mask.

I am one of those fanatics that would risk my life to save my pet! It is a scary thing to think that your pet could die as easily as a humane from smoke inhalation. Alot of people are under the misunderstanding that a dog or cat will run and find a way out if the house is on fire. Do your research. They don't. I will be looking into these masks for our fire departments here. I didn't even know that they had these. The couple that donated the masks will probably be responsible for saving alot of pets in the future. What a great thing they have done!

It's good to know that there are oxygen masks available for animals. I am going to check out that web site or company. I also want to contact our local fire department to see if they are equiped w/ them. Great story. It brings up another animal safety issue that can save lifes. The more we learn & know the better we can be prepared for anything.

I think eventually oxygen masks for pets will become standard equipment for all fire companies. With stories such as this one the public will become more informed and other areas will pick up on the practice of donating this type of life saving methods. It really is inexpensive and the value of a pets life can not be measured by dollars.

A wonderful idea! There are SO many of us that have pets in the house, if the unthinkable happened, I would be grateful for our FD to have one. It's something for everyone to ask your local department about.

That is a very very smart idea because if you are in a fire and you want your dog to get out of the house with you then you could put the oxygen mask on your pet so the pet won't get sick or even die.

Hey, my family just did this the past year!!! Instead of buying our pets Christmas presents this year, (2 dogs and 7 cats between the family members), as they are too spoiled anyways, we purchased these oxygen pet masks in honor of them to 3 of our local fire departments..... We l thought it would be a wonderful way to put our money to help save other pets lives in our communities.
