How sad. It's so difficult to lose a pet...whether it's sudden or not. I still miss Chaney, even though it has been almost 2 years since he passed. He was my hero. My heart goes out to Oprah.

It is a sad sad day when ones pet passes on. I had a cat pass on recently and my parents had their dog pass on. You never get over it. My heart goes out to oprah and anyone who has lost a dear pet. They are family.

I love Oprah for all that she has done for the animals. Here show on puppy mills was awesome, and her dedication show for her deceased dog was beautiful. I wish that all owners could bond so deeply with their pets. I know that I will be heartbroken when Katie leaves this earth.

It's been a while since she lost her dog, but it's never easy. She had a dedication to this dog on her show right after she passed away. I had tears in my eyes and pictures and videos of Opera and her dogs flashed on the screen...so sad.

Poor Oprah - she's had a tough year. Maybe when she gets her new shelter dog she can walk it for exercise and get rid of some of the 200 lbs she just revealed she is carrying.

I always Tivo her show and I saw the one where she told the audience that she had just lost her dog. It was a real tear jerker. She does love her animals. I am really happy that she now understands rescue and shelter work and has sworn to only get dogs/cats from shelters going forward.

I've been impressed with the stance that Oprah has recently taken on homeless pets and puppy mills. She stated on one of her shows that she will never purchase a dog from a breeder again now that she has been made aware of the severe pet overpopulation problem in the U.S.

Just saw a news story that in that puppy mill show, the producers aired a surprise tribute to Sophie, and Oprah broke down crying so bad, that they had to cancel the rest of the show.
Every one of us can sympathize with what she must have been feeling. I am glad to hear she will be supporting shelters and not breeders as a source of pets.

Oprah consider shelter animals in the future please. If you set the standard can you imagine all the people that will follow suit? Shelter animals are the only way to go!:)

It is always hard to lose a loved one. My heart goes out to you in your time of need. Please no more small balls for the dogs though OK. There are more suitable toys for certain size dogs out there that are not choke hazards. Accidents do happen. So sorry you lost 2 of your loved ones in a short time.

It's always so sad to lose a family member. I would bet from the comments that Oprah's dogs were at her office regularly. I wonder if she let's eveyone bring in pets? I have no doubt that Oprah is a huge supporter of her local shelters. Maybe we should all donate $5.00 to a shelter we love in honor of Sophie & Gracie Winfrey-Graham.
