I think leaving some money in a trust for the animals is great, but seriously will the dogs need 6 mil each. i wish she would leave some for them and leave the rest for rescues and shelters in her honour.

I do not see why each dog needs 6 million. Even living high on the hog, spending $10,000 on each dog every year for 15 years would only be $150,000 and a HUGE amount of money left over to help thousands of other animals in animal shelters around the world.

I'm glad they are making sure their dogs are cared for but I would like to see some amount left to a rescue group or animal shelter. Maybe the trust could even be written so that when their dogs pass, the remaining funds would be donated to shelters.

I think it's great when pet owners leave money to have their dogs cared for. that said, $6M per dog is more than any dog needs. I'd rather see a more reasonable amount and leave the rest to a local shelter or the ASPCA.

I would hope that Oprah would change her will to have her funds help many
more animals. Her dogs most likely will not need 6 million each.
But, then its the decision of What 'RESCUE" to leave the funds to?
What happens if her dogs dont need 6 million, and who handles the money for
the dogs? I just hope the funds go to the right "beneficiaries." !!

I thought if I died that I wanted to come back as one of my dogs. Now if I die, I want to come back as one of Oprah's dogs. The money? Hopefully at least one of her dogs will step up to the plate and say hey, why don't you bring a couple mil down to JC and to help out my dog buds at LHS.

Seriously, I'm into animal advocacy, animal rights and working with shelter dogs, but that kind of money can really be used for much more constructive purposes then caring for a few dogs.

I wish I was one of Oprah's pets! I would probably put money in a trust for my pets and appoint someone I trust as the trustee. Or give the money to the person I trust with stipulations to care for my pets.

She loves her pets, as we all do, I"m sure their spoiled rotten, but $6 million each, she could built a shelter and so many other pets would benefit. She spends thousands on gifts for her audience, why not take some "spare" money and build something that can be used here today and she can see what her money would be doing. Just my opinion.

Since our judicial system has a history of "overturning" these specific requests (Leona Helmsley) why doesn't Oprah just spend that $30 mil. She could almost build 1 shelter for every state in the union. She could even get her list of possible benefactors from this Zootoo site. Loads of info already researched for her

I agree too! Keep in mind, 30 million is a drop in the bucket for her.

At my shelter, there are 2 cats that were willed to them. Since they were not socialized by their elderly older, they needed a safe haven.
