When I had Teddy we had our tub and shower replaced so there was no wall in the bathroom for a couple a days we had to shower at my grandma's house but Teddy went missing we searched everywhere for her but we couldn't find her we left food outside thinking she might have gotten scared of the workers in the house and ran outside but it was about 3 weeks and no sign of her still we were getting ready to put up missing posters and even put an ad in the paper and go to the humane socitey to look for her there but then after I finished making the poster and was ready to go to the copy store to make copies of it I heard meowing in the hallway I opened a drawer that is attched to the wall we have at least 10 drawers attached to the wall in the house that if you pull them out you can see inside the wall when I opened that one in the hallway Teddy jumped out she was really skinny and had lost alot of weight in those 3 weeks she had been hiding in the wall the whole time there was at least one more time where she went and hid there. Teddy also enjoyed climbing up in the dressers from under them even when the drawers were shut we would open them up and there was my little Teddy Bear hiding out. As for Shorty his strangest place ever to sleep was a dresser drawer I had cleared out but the drawer wasn't the strange part it was the fact that it was when I was in high school taking a child development class and we had to take home those robot babies for like a week well my robot doll was a girl we had to name them too so her name was Noelia, and the drawer was open 24/7 cause that was the only place I really had to put Noelia at night so at night when I heard crying it was like a real baby I had to get up and take care of her but everytime she cried at night Shorty would laydown on top of her face if she were a real baby he would have suffacated her but that was wierd that he did that.

When a hiding place is discovered, they search for a new hiding place. My cat has lots of hiding places that she ignores now.

Yes, cats are great at finding secret hiding places. Unfortunately, they can sometimes get hurt when their humans stumble upon (or over) them...

You forgot to mention the infamous empty shoe box! Even the largest grown cat seems to be able to squeeze into one of those. The sides of the box might rip open, but that doesn't seem to reduce the kitty's satisfaction in managing such a feat. (Or would an empty shoe box make it "feet"?).

I might add that kitties seem to enjoy coming out into the open after they could NOT be located and then pretending like they were at that location the entire time their humans were looking for them.
