NYC Dogs Line Up for Pet Show
Big Apple expo delights pets and owners alike.
Recently, Zootoo brought you a preview of the NYC Pet Show, the second annual expo offering expert tips and hot new products to the four-legged Manhattan community. Well, we were there at the actual event to bring you a dog's-eye-view of the festivities.
Presented in collaboration with the American Pet Products Association, the NYC Pet Show delivered advice, samples, and more to both pets and their owners.
Rescue and shelter organizations such as the North Shore Animal League and the Best Friends Animal Society provided visitors with information about pet adoption and animal welfare.
And representatives from Angel on a Leash -- human and canine -- educated attendees about the wonderful work of their therapy dog programs and teams.
Pet experts were also on hand giving advice and answering questions. Eager fans lined up to meet Victoria Stilwell of Animal Planet's hit series "It's Me or the Dog!", who stayed after her presentation to sign autographs for the long line of pet parents waiting for a chance to meet her in person.
Dogs seemed more interested in lining up for free treats, though. For those dogs who were lucky enough to attend with their owners, the joy of the NYC Pet Show appeared to be meeting other canines -- and scoring some free samples from the exhibitors.
A few dogs viewed the surroundings from the posh comfort of strollers, and one dog even dressed up for the occasion, wearing a bright pink tutu!
Outside the show, dogs were also treated to an authentic NYC "food truck" experience, with the presence of the Freshpet Truck. Pet show guests and passersby alike enjoyed free Freshpet samples from the brightly-decorated van, which has been appearing throughout the city, providing canines with their own mobile treat dispenser among the ice cream trucks of summer.

Skitters Teddy and Shorty want to go to this event and so do I but I think Teddy would have a heart attack from just leaving the house. If we let her outside and we leave the door open for her she is fine but the minute the door is shut she runs back to the door if someone doesn't open it right away she runs to all the other doors to check if they are open so that she can get back in.
