ummm...anyone else remember when david letterman got bit for petting a friendly dog under the chin? you don't know what a dog was trained for and you shouldn't touch them in key spots until you do.
also, facing a dog can be threatening to them even w/o eye contact. dogs who are scared or stressed or those few who are aggressive could see this as a sign of dominance. if you're faced w/a potentially dangerous dog, you should stand w/your side to them.

I think the article is good- kids, and adults, should be aware of what to do, or not do. Your points are also very good to know.

Good article. I like that they encourage teaching children how to act around dogs. It is very important to start teaching when they are young.

Good information. As a kid, I was bit by three different dogs. One was my Grandma's dog who had been friendly in the past. We should always be cautious.

I agree. I was not taught when I was little and I ran from a dog that started chasing me. Luckily he turned back before I got bit.

exactly. learn to respect the animal and their personal space. kids are most likely to get bit b/c they see a cute animal, not an animal who may be stressed out or scared by the kid coming at them.

One time I walked Skitters and this girl asked to pet her I said no she is unpredicatable around strangers she likes some strangers but not all of them and I would rather not take the chance of her biting someone so I tell everyone no but this stupid girl said oh all dogs love me she won't bite me and the girl started petting her anyways as I walked away Skitters didn't bite her but Skitters growled at her under her breath when the girl walked away. I am so glad Skitters did not bite that girl I might not have her today if she would have bitten her.
