I have had both purebred dogs and mutts! My first was da mutt and she was the greatest! You have to be carefull where you buy dogs, I have a pom, shes the best! little friend! but iwould save a a mutt if i could! I liked this story, and lots of time it is the conection between dog and human that makes the difference! Laura

I wish there were more pictures of the dogs. We just adopted a husky/aussie mix. I like the idea of good old "mutts" and I mean that term with afection...winning anything. I read an article about the streanths of pointer/husky mixes in races. I hope that people our encouraged to open up their homes and hearts to the mixed breed dog. They have just as much charicter and pizazz then a pure bred.

What an inspiring article! I understand that the Iditarod can be very challenging for the dogs and mushers as well so this is great when something surprising comes up like a mixed breed winning the race.

They should do away with this race- what you don't hear about are the dogs that are abused and pushed to the brink of death so that humans can be entertained- sick.
