Men Kill Dog, Owner Kills Men

RUSSIA – An eastern Serbian man whose dog was killed for food caught the culprits in the act and murdered them.

Alexander Yermilov came home one night in December to find two of his friends butchering his beloved dog for food. Enraged, the 40-year-old picked up an ax and did away with the two men.

According to reports from the town of Chita prosecutor, Yermilov struck his victims on the head, killing them.

He then called local police and explained what happened. He has since been placed in police custody and charged with two counts of murder.

This story was reported by the Australian news source, 'The Daily Telegraph.'

I think I might have also reacted out of rage. Does that fall under "temporary insanity"? It's a shame but I can understand his reaction.

In all honesty, I can't say I blame the man for doing what he did even though I know it's morally wrong. My dogs are my family and I would be absolutely devastated if my friends decided to kill them for food.

so sad for this to happen, not sure how I would react but may have done the same thing. dont care if it's for food or not, they are my pets

They killed the dog for food? Why doesn't Putin try feeding his people instead of charging this guy with murder.

My sedaments exactly...why on earth would they have to be killing their friends dog for food??? I would reacted the same way

He had to be insane to do what he did. Seeing a love one killed can do that to you.

I hope the courts take in consideration he was temporarily insane, and he did call the police and turn himself in. But this is Russia-----

I seriously can't imagine how I would react. If the same thing had been happening to my children I know I might have done the same thing and some people feel exactly the same way about their pets.

Pretty sure my first instinct would have been the same....I know I am probably glad I do not know the unfortunate circumstances resulting in the conditions that I've seen several of our rescues in. Be too tempted to dole out punishment to the previous owners, then I would be in jail, and then I would be no good to the remaining rescues

wow, the guy reacted quite violenty and rashly when he saw the dog being mauled. I would think most people would see red if that happened. But to kill the guys? It sounded like he was sorry and he did call the police. What a sad story all around. I wonder if his friends were starving or this was just a mean act?

Seems he acted rashly and knew it since he himself called the police. Sad all the way around.

Different country, and different rules. If someone would kill a dog for food (let's say it was mine), I have to admit I might initially react the same way and do some serious harm to the culprit. AND, I would feel justified. This being said, I also have not had to do without food enough so I would even think of eating a dog. So, .... who's to say what is right and wrong here. I don't agree with murder of dogs or humans on a usual basis, but I have never had to go hungry (thank my Sweet Jesus).

An eye for an eye. Until we are all blind. I can't understand the hunger that would cause a person to kill a dog for a meal but it must be awful. This is sad for everyone involved and must reach out to more of the community.

I would have done the same thing...I mean, what kind of "friends" are they if they can't say, "Hey, man, we're really hungry, would you mind giving us a little something to eat?" No, let's skip that, let's just eat his pet.

Sorry.
Don't feel bad for them at all.

Imagine you leave your kid at home with the babysitter.
You come home, and the babysitter tells you that she got hungry, so she hacked up baby Johnny and made some stew.
Wouldn't you be a BIT pissed off?

Or am I the only one who considers my pets to be my babies?

I hate to think of anyone eating my dog or cat. But I guess they do in other countries. I think what he did was payback. Too bad he has to be punished for it. He was just defending his home.

That's sad. I would hate to be in that guys shoes come home to find my friends killing my dog for food. I dont think he should get in trouble I mean after all they were in his yard and killed his dog they shouldn't have been there.

I could see snapping from the trauma- doesnt make it right but lots of things about this situation are not right.

I would consider this as temporary insanity. I mean, if you saw your own friends murdering your pet and there was a weapon nearby its fairly likely you'd hurt them. I can't judge the guy because I love my pets so much I'd do anything...

I hate to say it, but that is probably what I would do too. If my friends couldn't ask me for some food or money to get food & they just killed one of my pets to eat it, YEAH, they would be dead.

Everything about this story is horrible. The men have to kill a dog because they are hungry. They kill their friends dog and in a fit of passion he kills them! Now his life is over! Horrible !

sad, but if he would have done nothing the 2 "friends" would have gotten away with the murder of the dog.
i know i would have done the same.... hurt my dog's or any animal i own or call part of my family... i will hurt you right back and then some.

Umm not really sure about this story. A Serbian man (not Siberian?) in Russia? Reported in an Australian newspaper? Sounds a little off to me.
