Man's Dog Stolen From Golf Course, Gruesome Outcome

December 22, 2007
HAWAII - An Oahu, Hawaii man is devastated after his dog was reportedly stolen from a golf course and later killed for food.
Frank Manuma was at the Moanalua Golf Club last Sunday to play a round of golf. With management's permission, he leashed his dog Caddy to a utility shed in a shaded area while he played.
When he came back, Caddy was gone. Golf course management notified staff of the missing dog. Someone later come forward and said they saw two men stuffing the animal into a car.
The two suspects were arrested for second-degree theft, but have since released.
The eight-month-old German shepherd-lab mix was Manuma's regular golfing buddy. He says that's how she got her name.
No word yet on why he tied her to the shed that day or if the culprit's motives were driven by anything other than hunger. One of the suspects claims he killed the dog to feed his family.
Two years ago, a bill that would have made this type of offense a felony went before Hawaii state legislatures. That move didn't pass.

However, I still stand by my last post about the major problems plaguing Honolulu. There are so many important problems here that should be addressed.
The homesteads that have been set aside for Hawaiians need to be actually given to the Hawaiians, the veterans need to be taken care of, more no kill shelters should be made, and neuter/spay programs could be made to control the feral cats more and try to give some of them homes, the native animals need to be protected as well...etc.

I have seen more homeless people here than anywhere else in the united states - our veterans, some with missing limbs, lying forgotten in the dirt and among the trash, and native Hawaiians who had their country illegally (against our own constitution) annexed by the united states and are left unable to live in the society that took over their home and now gives them no real protection.
Before they make such acts of desperation a felony charge... perhaps they should work on the problems that caused it. Also - the stray cat population here on Oahu is huge in areas.. wonder why he didn't go after some of them?
