Sure, there are plenty of “pet-friendly” (and the slightly less-welcoming “pet-tolerant”) hotels out there for you and your wandering cat or canine companion. But when you’re traveling for business or pleasure, you probably crave pampering… more ›

It's wonderful that there are more hotels welcoming pets, but, like with their human guests, the amenities get a bit much...

It's nice to know that your dog will not suffer during your getaway but what about giving your dog his own vacation experience. The Dog Island offers exactly that in their Vacation Island, a paradise where you doggie will get to rome freely while being surrounded by his peers. It will rejuvenate him and let him get away from the stress of the city life. Let your dog be completely free if only for a while.

This is an excellent option for those who need it, but my pups always stay with family.

That is the best option. I wish I had family to take care of my boy.

Anything can be carried to extremes, and I think this is over the edge. People are going hungry, unemployment is at an all time high, and there is money for pet psychics?

I do take my dogs on vacation about once a year. Nothing this fancy. I am happy with a clean hotel that lets me bring the dogs. We aren't pampered like at some of the places in this article, but we have a good time.

The "luxury pet hotels" were probably designed for the Hollywood stars who like to parade around with their dressed-up pets (as accessories). I'm just guessing, but the prices are probably ridiculous and only affordable to the wealthy.

I know a lot of people who travel with their guinea pigs. They bring collapsible play yards to keep them in while they are in their hotel or motel room. They travel in carriers on the road and, as long as they are out of the sun, they are fine and usually sleep.

I have taken Trixie "on the road" with me, but have never been given a treat , DVD or bath robe for her! How fancy! It's nice being able to travel with our pets!

I would have to say this is great! I would venture to say that more of the hotels seem to be catering to the dogs but, I'm thrilled to have read that some are cat friendly too! Great article!

This is great that places are pet friendly. I hope the word spreads to other hotels. :)

Peggy, I couldn't agree with you more! It thrills me, literally to know that we're making headway with these businesses and they are realizing how much our fur children mean to us!

I am too, Kaytee! Maybe one day we'll even be able to dine and bring them shopping in stores other than PetCo and PetSmart!

I do not travel with my pet cat, but it is nice to see that those who do travel with their pets will have options available to them.

We have 8 so we can't travel with all of them on each road trip but, whenever we take 3 with us, we make sure we bring their beds and favorite toys, treats, bottled water, extra bowls, fresh litter, etc. so they always feel right at home!
