Dogs are truly amazing animals. How many people would do the same for a dog if the situation were reversed?

Makes me wonder...seems they could handle the dog in a different way. Sending it to the pound to be put down...sending it back to the park. Surely there could be a better resolution.

I'm glad the woman was OK but to return the dog to the park? There is no one in Japan that would want a Hero dog?

Why didn't the police try to find the dog's owner instead leaving it out in the park after it saved a woman's life that he didn't even know. Sounds like the police there don't have a heart.

Great story - but the ending "could/should" have been better. I'm kind of sad that they were not able to find out if he has a home and -if not- have someone take him in. He's truly a hero!

This story was great! He saved the elderly woman. But what I didn't like was that they left the dog out homeless again at the park. Hopefully he finds his way home or someone else takes him in.

Why on earth didn't this woman's family step in and rescue the dog? What made anyone think the dog had a home? For heaven's sake, he saved the woman's life--give me a break!

Wow, what a heartwarming and uplifting story...we all hope that someone comes along and gives us what we need at the moment we need it the most! This lady was very lucky! Even if she suffers from dementia, and wandered from her home and got lost, someone was looking after her!

What a great story! Amazing that it was a stray dog that helped the old woman out. So glad to hear that they did not bring the dog to a pound where he may have been put down. He deserves a medal. I'm sure that once folks hear the story that a lot of people will want to adopt him.

I'd just be afraid that someone with dementia would not be able to properly care for the dog if she took it. Sweet story though.

Dogs and their well tuned "sixth sense" are simply amazing. Fate stepped in dressed in the guise of a stray dog and saved this woman's life. Nice touch that the officers brought the pooch back to the park, but would have been nicer yet if they kept it as a mascot of sorts until they were able to find someone to give it a loving home.

I am glad that they took the dog back to the park. For saving the woman the dog did not deserve to die and at least the authorities did this. Although it would've been nice if someone would've adopted the dog if no one claimed him.
