Introducing DogShelters.com

April 18, 2013 | By Mellie Test | 2 comments

Dogs rescue us as much as we rescue them. Save a dog from a dog shelter today!

DogShelters.com is a relatively new site dedicated completely to content about dog shelters and dog rescues. From learning what makes a sustainable dog shelter to learning what types of behaviors and issues to expect with a possibly traumatized pup, DogShelters.com offers resources for the new pet parent.

There are articles on celebrities who've taken on the cause of dog rescue, and a dog-only "Find a Dog" search.

DogShelters has spent a lot of time posting high-quality images to the DogShelters Pinterest page, realizing that images speak loudly and often directly to the heart. There are high-quality photographs of rescue dogs, taken by professional photographers, showing how much an image can change the trajectory of an adoptable dog's future. There are also Pin boards for gorgeous dog photography, photos of rescued and adopted dogs, and photos of amazingly beautiful dog shelters designed by animal shelter architects across the country.

The feature that DogShelters would most like to grow is the "Submit Your Story" feature, because success stories are the most engaging and encouraging in an age where so much disaster and criticism exist. If you have rescued a dog or know someone who has, please consider submitting your story to DogShelters.com and allow them to feature your first-person account of how you and your dog have found a mutual connection.

Our dogs and cats stay with us until they get adopted in our own homes except for some cats who will spend up to two weeks at petco and then go back to their foster homes if they aren't adopted our rescue group gets to bring them to petco every weekend and the cats are switched out they have a wall called kitty condos for the cats to stay in but when the dogs first come they come in from all kinds of different circumstances so it is good we foster them so that they get braver in fact the new chi mix we just got is very shy I named her she likes me already but is still very shy she is brindle colored and I got to name her so her name is Brynn shorty for brindle the color of her fur, we also got some yorkie's and malteses from a puppy mill we saved them from there the father yorkie was the father of the maltese puppy and the father of the yorkie puppy there and the momma maltese is his mate and so is the momma yorkie and we took them to have shots yesterday well the momma yorkie couldn't get any shots she is preganant again and they said she would give birth any day at the vet we didn't even know she didn't look pregnant but she will raise these pups and then will be able to be adopted and never have to raise pups again, I also ended up getting bit and scratched by a maine coon yesterday he was scarred and didn't want to stay at petco so when I put him in he bit and clawed me his name is phil he is a big fluff ball and the cat you would least expect that behavior from but I forgive him it must be stressful. One other thing are there any readers of corneilia funke books here cause if there are and they know of any new ones coming out soon I would like to know I love her books I just finshed her book fearless or any books about mythical creatures or mirror worlds would be good too even if they aren't by her let me know.
