Isn't that what happened to the lake in Fried Green Tomatoes? The geese froze to the lake and flew away, taking the lake with them. ;-)

so many animals seem to be having troubles with rivers these days, but I think perhaps its because more people are SAVING them, which is certainly a nice thing to think about!

what a sweet story! It just warms your heart to see people going above and beyond to help an animal in distress. Hopefully, the goose will remember the officer's cars and do his best not to poop on them as he's flying overhead.

YAY! Nice to read this and know that people really do still care out there! Geese are pretty amazing and did you know that they mate for life? If one falls out of the migration flight for whatever reason, its mate will follow it and stay with it? There is something to be learned from geese!

Ice is Scarey!! I have a pond in front of my house, and I always tried to keep my animals away from it in when it would start to freeze over.....but sometimes they would get out on it before I could stop them. We were fortunate...none of them ever fell through. We did have a horse that got down on ice at our farm....we had one heck of a time getting her up and off of the ice....but we did. Glad someone took the time to rescue the goose...:).

The police divers were putting their lives on the line to save this goose and I commend them for that. Every year animals venture out on the icy lakes and ponds only to find out too late that it wasn't the thing to do.
