My poor premature kitten's mother wouldn't nurse her and she ended up dying because the mother punctured her lung. I wish we could have borrow the retriver.

My sisters spaniel mix has done the same thing several times except she has not milk but still allows the kittens to false nurse off of her for comfort. Very sweet.

What a sweet story! When I was a kid, I lived on a farm so we had alot of dogs. We had 2 dogs pregnant at the same time and they both had their puppies around the same time. One of the mother dogs died and she had 3 surviving puppies. We put the 3 puppies with the other mother dog and crossed our fingers. She nursed those 3 puppies just like they were her's! How sweet God's creatures are!!

yeah its actually kind of cool my friend had a dog who did that with a kitten named tiger being 2 days old... Although puppy, the dog, has passed on Tiger is getting old and grey and is very alive and healthy... i just think its such a cool story!

Too bad Honey isn't spayed but that's another topic. My orphaned cats were bottle fed but my sister's golden retriever played mom to them. They slept on her and Amber (the dog) would keep them clean like a mother cat would. Amber never had puppies but she certainly has the mother instinct. I'm glad the kitten has a happy ending.
