SAN DIEGO – This year's Global Pet Expo presented more than 800 new pet products that will enter the market this year. With many owners away at work, pets can get pretty bored.

From doggie string cheese and frozen chew toys, to separation anxiety relieving toys, this year’s expo had something every pet household could use.

But Pet Pulse reporter Annabella Asvik found many options for pets to fight the workday doldrums.

My house if full of pet toys! My cats have toy baskets full of cat toys. I must admit that I bought some cat toys at the pet expo I went to in my area.

I love the "mouse in the house" toy - bet it costs plenty, though. The wire thing is a Cat Dancer, that's been around for years, and for my cats it's a perennial favorite. The automatic string thing on the door or wall looks good but it makes me a little nervous. I can see my cat getting hold with his teeth, biting a piece off, and then swallowing it. Cat swallowing string is a very bad thing, which is why you should never leave string or rubber bands around for your cat to play with unsupervised.

Wow. I'm actually glad I DIDN'T go to one of these. Not only would I be broke, but I would've lost several days of work playing with all the stuff, I'm sure. :)

I think that people sometimes spend way too much money producing toys for animals that would be better spent on providing shelter animals with better lives.

There are just so many toys out there to select from. My dogs have a great variety. I think it helps keep them active and from being bored. They have certain ones that are their favorites but I am always looking for new toys.

When I think that my dogs put up with a ball and a knotted rag for a toy when i was a kid, I wonder how they ever lived a happy life. I think it is great that we try to amuse our pets...but I hope owners really watch some of the new items for choke dangers and that we watch what toys are really played with..

With more and more people considering their pets to be part of their families, pet toys are a big business. I just hope that as much thought has gone into the safety of these new toys as the creativity.

So glad they are coming up with ways to occupy pets who are home alone. Really liked the Cat and Mouse Game and the string game (didn't catch the actual name of it). The Diggs toy was a stretch. Why don't you just leave an article of clothing with your pet, and not stuff it in a toy? The frozen plastic chew was cool. Hope it is safe, as freezing water in plastic bottles, then drinking the thawed water is an issue these days.

Love the idea of frozen chew toys. This would be great for teething puppies
just like teething babies. Exciting new ideas.

Would love to attend a show. It is funny to think we still can come up with more toys. My dogs toy box overflows as it is.

I don't have a dog but the dog string cheese looks fun = ) I do have 2 cats & a rabbit-I can't wait until the mouse on the track (running around the tiny house) comes out! I'll have to get it and post what my cats do (or rabbit does? = )

I would like to attend this someday. My dogs would love to go too! I think that it's great that they keep changing pet toys because my dogs get bored with their's after a while.

Our dog has a tendency to rip the stuffing out of toys. I would like some toys that cannot be destroyed.

I try to buy only the ones that will last and yes I still spend the $$, they just have more toys.

I own 2 stores. RePets is a pet store that adopts out shelter animals. our pet store helps fund the operation. I usually do go to these shows. But I mossed the one in Feb

I LOVE THESE CAT TOYS, ESPECIALLY THE LITTLE MOUSE ON THE TRACK. THESE ARE ALL GREAT INVENTIONS, I CAN NOT WAIT TO SEE THESE ON THE MARKET, I MAY END UP BUYING SOME OF THESE.

The dog frozen treat might get a little messy indoors but would be nice for an outdoor dog in summer.
Does the toy with the moving mouse comes with sturdy clamps to hold the thing down? My cat will just drop kick it off the table and kill the mouse when it gets stuck in the rug.
The door toy might be fun but I would worry about the string getting swallowed
