Free Cancer Consultations For All Pets

Browse News

A cancer survivor whose dog provided him comfort during the ordeal is offering free cancer consultations for any pet in the U.S.

Jack Stephens, founder of Pets Best Insurance, says his dog Spanky was the source of emotional comfort during his bout with throat cancer.

He says to give something back, he's offering free cancer consultations to any pet within the U.S. through Oncura Partners. The national firm specializes in pet cancer.

Stephens says the consultation will be underwritten through his company, Pets Best Insurance. But families do not need to have a policy with his company.

He added that pet owners will need a referral from their vet in order to obtain the consult.

He also says this idea stemmed from the fact that half of cats and dogs over 10 years-old lose their lives to cancer.

For more information on this offer, go to petsbest.com.

Tell us what you think about Mr. Stephens offer by commenting under this story. Post your videos at the zootooTV tab.

What a great way to honor spanky, losing anyone to cancer is a very hard thing to happen, but to memorialize his friend like this is wonderful

This is a great thing for those who need such things. Money is such a factor & for many nothing can be done because there is no money. I to have mixed feelings about this. I don't want to see any of my animals suffer. I wish they could talk & let us know just what they would want. I don't know what I would do & I pray that I will never have to make a decision.

This sounds like it would be a good program and what a gift that the man is giving back. We have had 2 dogs that have had cancer. It is costly to do tests and screenings. It is nice to know that cost wouldn't be a factor to make sure the pets are healthy or get a jump on the treatment if necessary.

Generous offer. If caught early enough, just like with people, cancer can be contained if not cured.

I do have mixed feelings. Do pets really want to go through cancer treatment? I am glad it is available, but would they want that.

I guess it depends on what type of cancer it is and what the treatment options are for that type of cancer.

Great story! He is giving back from what he had to go through with his dog. Big heart! Hope his dog is ok! And now pet owners can know from the start before it is to late to treat!

Kudos to this gentleman and his great heart to the animals. Someone who realizes the importance of their furry companion is a-okay in my book. Add to that the financial support - superb!

This is a very commendable gesture as pet owners don't want to see their pets suffer. But, what about treatment? Does he offer to subsidize that cost? It would be nice to see financial support as well...either from his company or another.
