Lucky dog. Never realized that so many dogs fell through the ice each year.

Being somewhat familiar with Lake Buttes des Morts, that little dog was lucky the firefighters were so quick to act. Every summer, it seems, there are a couple of drownings that occur. Glad everything worked out okay.

I agree with the previous commenter. There ARE so many of these stories...and you wonder how many animals are wondering around without their owner knowing where they are. My cats don't go outside and my dogs are never outside without me.

Glad the dog was saved, but this is a good reason to keep dogs on leashes to prevent such accidents.

What a great outcome. This could have easily turned into a nasty situation for all involved. Imagine what could have happened in the very cold water of Lake Butte des Morts. Ms Bray or any of the fire fighters could have easily gone under too.

Firefighters will save a life no matter who or what it is. To head into freezing water for a dog is so courageous! It's also nice to see the dog owner be so thankful for their heroics. I think it's great when heroes get the recognition they deserve.
