Our local Red Cross will teach animal CPR and First Aid-you just have to call them and set it up.

The Preston County Animal Shelter thru donations purchased 12 sets (sm,med,lg) of the pet rescue masks for our 12 Volunteer Rescue Units located in our large county.
These masks hook up to O2. and are washable and can be reused.
They have helped save one family pet in our County already that was in a house fire.
You can purchase these set thru H.E.L.P.com.

Being a firefighter i know that pets are just as important as people. Feels great knowing a brother firefighter is going above and beyond the call of duty

Wow! It is impressive that this fireman would go the extra mile to perform a life saving technique on a pet. Our local shelter offers Pet First Aid classes, and the American Red Cross offers Pet First Aid books. I think it is a wise investment for all pet owners to investigate these educational resources so they can be ready to perform this skill in times of need.

My husband is a firefighter, and unfortunately, pets are often the first casualties of house fires. Everyone that owns pets should post a notice(you can buy a special sign)in their window of how many pets they have. When an emergency arises, there will be info on your pets for rescue workers to see.

AWWWWW I think that's fantastic...The first thing my cat would do in a fire is run and hide. My fear is that I would never be able to get my kids and all my pets out in time. I think it's great that there are people out there that our like that. Where do they learn to do mouth to mouth on pets I wonder. I've taken CPR would it be the same for pets? hmmmmm

Being a volunteer firefighter we always don't have a chance to save the animals. It is usually too late but when we do, it's an amazing feeling. We try and do our best and give each one of them a chance. They are just like people to my dept.

Gotta love those firefighters! I just love happy endings.
Not many people would be willing to save human lives, to risk their own, let alone for pets.
God Bless Them All!!!!
