What a beautiful story. Brought a tears. The puppy must help the mother of her son, fallen in battle, to carry-on. This pup was born and in the U.S. Yes, everything happens for a reason.

at 19 he should have been dancing at his prom not fighting a war. i am glad his family will be able to care for the dog their son cared for so much and i hope it gives them some comfort

Companion animals mean so much to our soldiers. I have read many stories and have seen many pictures of Americans taking care of animals in war zones. It is truly a blessing that this mother was able to bring home a pup that clearly meant so much to her son. All of the people involved were not just helping this pup find a forever home, they were honoring her son and the sacrifices he and his family made for all of us. Many service members are forced to surrender their animals when called to duty. Some do not have family or friends to care for their pets when they deploy. I saw this on TV and it was so bittersweet. How sad for that young man to lose his life, but it sounds like he led a very admirable one.

Sad sad story. Another young person wasted in war. I feel very sorry for the family and I am glad they were able to get the puppy home to Alex's family. Truly a joint effort to get DJ home safe and sound. I just wish it could have been both of them.
