I hope when there is more information available to the public to show just how amazing rabbits are, more people will look into adopting from shelters and helping more rabbits! I am always eager to tell stories and share information about my guys, in hopes to open peoples minds to look beyond the basic stereotype of rabbits.

Just like some cats aren't too cuddly, where some just love it.. rabbits are the same! They take a lot more time to warm up to than a dog or a cat.. but when they do, it is truly amazing. My Bruno, a 12lb French Lop is comparable to a 2 year old. He will throw fits, grunt (yes, bunnies do grunt!) when he is unhappy.. but he is a very cuddly boy. He will do something called a "Dead Bunny Flop" out of sheer happiness right infront of you loving to be pet and snuggled against. He is an absolute teddy bear when HE wants to cuddle.. he will lay right next to you when you are lying on the floor (along with crawling all over you, bumping you with his noise or pulling at your pant leg). When he is having t.v. time, he will also try to (he barely fits on my lap!) climb on my lap, and will snuggle against my lap. He is a very outgoing rabbit, although I do think he sees himself more as a human than a rabbit LOL! Just thought I would share a few stories of my big goofball.. a lot of the views of rabbits come from whats seen at petstores etc.. bored and frightened. Rabbits stuck in a two small of a cage with no mental stimulation can't strive and show their real potential. They are just as playful, comical, smart, friendly as any cat or dog would.. but get SO much less recognition. Give them a foot, they'll give you a mile.

Not all rabbits are cuddlers but Tiny was more of a cuddler than our 3 cats.

We have a smaller rabbit that likes to be held and loved on. If our bigger rabbit has gotten the "wigglies" out he's content to lay around in our lap as well.
Rescue rabbits are great to check out for a pet. If they are friendly and snuggly you will most likely see that in them. Babies are never a sure thing.

I'm glad the rabbits were saved - I just wish we'd educate the public more on how rabbits can make good pets. (Then again - there is a rabbit rescue here in the contest and their reviews of rabbit products are continually pulled by ZooToo....almost as if rabbits aren't supposed to have toys, litter, cages or food??). Perhaps the education should start with ZooToo officials first.

It's obvious the education about rabbits as house pets needs to start at zootoo. There are som fine but small companies that make healthy safe products for rabbits. Pet food marketers are really missing the boat on a niche that is unfilled. Too bad no one wants to make a boat load of money off those of us with house rabbits. They could by valuing our opinions what is safe and healthy and what we purchase on a regular basis.

While discrimination against rabbits is serious business, rabbits are not any sort of protected class, nor are rabbit supporters. However, contests must be run fairly, or contestants have a legal cause of action for fraud against the organization running the contest. We use whatever means we must to get fair treatment and support for rabbits.
