I agree. Leave them to nature. They know what they are doing.

They will find their way and do what they need to survive! Leave them alone and don't get in their way!

These are intelligent mammals they'll instinctively do what they need to to survive. Sometimes we make things worse by sticking our noses in

The news two days ago said that the dolphins were sighted heading out of the river, but they turned around and went back. Speculation was that they were frightened by noises coming from a bridge repair. They didn't say how many were seen, but I got the impression that is was more than the last sighting of only a few. (I hope so.) I wonder if the noises is what has been holding them back all of this time.

These mammals have long since proven their intelligence. I hope this is just another instance that they "know what they are doing."

This is such a sad story. I hope that they make it. I feel so bad to think of them suffering & there is nothing I can do to help.

People need to stop interfering with what animals naturally do on their own. It's like trying to help a chick hatch from it's egg, you DON'T do it. You'll just end up hurting the damn thing.
Yes, some of the dolphins have died, but they do this every winter. I think they know what they're doing, just leave them be. Just think of it as survival of the fittest- you all believe in natural selection, right?

It sounds like the powers-that-be have a good handle on this situation. I'm sure they will take action if necessary.

Animals are more resilient than we give them credit for. They have survived without are help. Sometimes man just needs to leave well enough alone. I am glad that they are being watched just in case.

It would be nice to see updates on the survival efforts of these creatures. I think they will find themselves a more hospitable place when they are ready.

Dolphins are so intelligent and they will hopefully be able to survive. It is hard for us to sit back and watch them struggle, but these are wild creatures. I hope we get an update soon.

Hard as it is to do at times, it's generally best to let nature take it's course in this sort of situation. Trying to help the dolphins might well do more harm than good.

The dolphins are wild animals and if they are in the ocean then that is where they are supposed to be. If they choose to migrate to warmer waters, they will do so.

The dolphins should stay there util noticed to be in danger. The animals want to be there and are intelligent enough to know that they will be fine.

Tough for people to know what to do in a situation like this. Probably the best thing is to protect the dolphins from harm as well as possible and otherwise let them try to take care of themselves.

Dolphins are amazing an such intelligent creatures. I do think that it is risky for them to be left here, but they are indeed wild animals and unless they start becoming unhealthy the best choice is to leave it up to them.

I think that we should let them be wild and make choices. Dolphins have lived many years and should know when to leave or stay. Now it would be different if signs showed that they are sick or trapped. I'm sure they will keep an eye on them. It does surprise me that they haven't went to warmer waters but, habitat has changed through the years and so things can change.

I am curious as to why these dolphins have started staying here for the winter- what is happening in the habitat that they used to spend the winter in that they no longer want to go there?

The dolphins may run out of food, even if the river doesn't ice over.

I agree that they should be left alone unless there is something foreseen coming that might be detrimental to them. If they are healthy and doing good, leave them be.

I have read about this in our local paper and the dolphins don't seem to want to leave the river. They were really worried about crowds on the river for july 4 but everything turned out okay.

I hope they all are ok. However, I don't understand why are not doing everything possible to help them, or lead them out to the ocean towards a safer environment.

What do they mean when rescue attempts went awry? How many attempts could go "awry"...geez. It's interesting that they haven't left the river, but it doesn't sound like they're confused. Maybe they should just be guided to open ocean...or leave them to themselves?

It was reported on the news tonight that only five dolphins were sighted today. There are still no plans for a rescue. A Senator has spoken up that something should be done to save the few that are left. In comments some people thought that there was not rescue attempt because the dolphins were a tourist attraction; others felt it was the cost.

I don't know why we always think the worse?
I am wondering if there were only 5 dolphins spotted because the others have decided to go out into the ocean?
