We're messing with the environment and that's causing these creatures (and other sea mammals) to lose their bearings. I hope they made it.

I'm glad that they are being watched so if they get into trouble they can rescue them for warmer water. Any new updates zootoo?

There have been stories of people rescuing beached whales or dolphins. Why can't they help this pod or at least nudge them to the correct outlet to warmer waters?

A young humpback whale was entangled in fishing net off the NJ coast; he was freed today (2/27) and reportedly, swam out to open water!

It is a shame they are up there in the cold, but sometimes you can't play with nature.

"We are letting these dolphins be wild dolphins" is letting nature take its course. If they were to die in the wild, at least they were free.

I guess the remaining dolphins made it back to the ocean. They haven't been seen in a while and no bodies have been found.

I just saw a program on the National Geographic channel about how whales evolved to live in the ocean. This program posited that whales and toothed whales, i.e., dolphins, survived being eating by mega sharks because of their warm blood and ability to live in cold waters. I hope these dolphins can draw on their ancestral blood and survive the winter.

I hope they'll be okay. It seems kind of odd to hear all these stories about dolphins and whales in cold areas when I don't remember hearing any before the last few years. I wonder why this is becoming a problem all of a sudden.

We have the whale problems in our part of the country getting to areas where they can't survive. The saddest thing to see this wonderful creatures suffer.

I hope they survive the winter and decide to head out in the springtime. I hate seeing marine mammals getting confused- I think part of it is the increased boat traffic and other noises caused by humans. Is this the group that almost made it out of the bay last year, but then turned around just before they had to pass under a bridge with heavy traffic?

Tough moral dilema, let mother nature tale it's course or monitor closely and intervene if needed. Tough call, but I hope they thrive!

This is a complicated topic. At what point do we trust nature and an animals basic instincts and a what point do we intervene? Are we helping or making matters worse? Wouldn't a crystal ball be wonderful?

I also heard that the dolphins have not bee seen since the recent spell of frigid weather in the area. According to the news story, no one knows if they perished or if they made it to open waters.
