How sad =( I don't believe the story tells if the man ever recovered the dog's body. If he didn't, maybe there's hope, let's pray Edna got away from the monsters! (hopefully she bit the crap out of them before she ran!)

What kind of demented, sick individual could do this to a dog - but more so, make someone who loves that dog listen as you kill it. The most frightening factor here is the age of the criminals. It is psychologically indicated that the torture and killing of animals is a precursor to an increasingly violent adult - possible psychopaths and/or sociopaths who will soon turn from animals to humans.

i dont know how that poor man could listen to 7 minutes of his dog being tortured i would have gone crazy. Those boys have serious problems and need extreem help

It would be pure torture for me to think my sweet beloved baby had been tortured and killed like that!! I pray to God above they're able to find the boys who did this gruesome thing and they're punished to the fullest!! It's just too sad!!

This is outrageous. It is scary that so much bad is in so many people of all ages. They should be punished, but something should happen to their parents also.=; after all, they are the reasons the kids turned out the way they did.

Verizon needs to do the right thing. These kids need to be locked away for the rest of their lives so that they don't do this to another living being. Anyone who could do a thing like this is beyond rehabilitation.

How absolutely horrible. Verizon needed to cough up those records a LONG time ago. I totally agree Verizon has been impeding the investigation by witholding the phone number(s). The kids need to be tried as adults when they apprehend them. Society will be hearing from them again soon if they are not subdued & get proper counseling for the nine year old at least. Next time it might be a young child. Where the hell are the parents of these kids?!

ACTION ALERT: Calling all animal welfare advocates to help seek justice for Edna!

Join us March 5th, in Philadelphia, PA for a peaceful presence at a press conference concerning the case.

Victor Rodriguez, the juvenile of Nicetown charged with 'terroristic threats', 'attempted robbery by extortion' and a litany of other offences, following the 'Edna' animal cruelty case, failed to show up at his pre-trial hearing on January 31st (Petition #830-07-12 under the jurisdiction of Assistant District Attorney, Angel Flores) at the Youth Study Center. The court issued a bench warrant for his immediate arrest. Since then, Rodriguez has eluded Police.

In response to this case, a petition was created to Verizon and to Mayor Michael Nutter. The petition, which gathered over 5000 signatures, requested Verizon streamline its coordination with the Philadelphia Police and other law enforcement so delays in providing information would never happen again in cases of animal cruelty. Verizon responded with a cover letter enclosed with 2 responses that were previously posted in the Philadelphia Daily News. This cover letter and responses put the blame for the delay on the Philadelphia Police and did not address streamlining its policies with law enforcement. The petition also requested Mayor Michael Nutter address this case by putting the pressure on the Philadelphia Police to find the individual(s) responsible and to find Edna.

Join Edna's guardian, William Whiting, at a press conference scheduled for March 5, 2008 from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. in front of the Verizon - Pennsylvania Building (1717 Arch Street, Philadelphia) to formally present the petition to Verizon and to Mayor Nutter.

Please share this action alert with all of your animal loving friends, family and rescue contacts. 5,000 of us signed this petition - now let's see how many people we can get to physically come out and show their support!

Verizon CEOs should be arrested for obstruction of justice. The kids, once found, should be tried as adults and given the maximum penalty for murdering a therapy dog. They need to be stopped before their criminal actions escalate.

I cant believe what I just read, Ive dealt with teens killing cat by throwing themout windows of trucks while driving down the highways,, and I read earlier of high schools adopting animals, maybe thats a good idea to teach teens how to take care of animals, then again if theres teens out there this awful, I dunno. I hope to GOD they are caught and punished accordingly!!!

16 and 9 years old, where are the parents? If they really are that old they need major help to be that messed up in the head at an early age! I hope they can track the phone numbers down, It would be a cool way for them to get caught...Lets just hope they was stupid enough to use there own phone!
