Dog Skinned Alive
ALABAMA – A Vinemont, Alabama family is mourning the loss of their dog this week after they found it, skinned alive.
Owner Neal Rodgers says when he went outside to feed his two Beagles last Sunday morning, three year-old Anne walked up to him bleeding.
Initially, he thought she had been hit by a car. Rodgers says he lets his dogs loose through his expansive rural property which is near a local highway.
But then he saw that she had clearly been skinned.
Anne's coat was removed from her neck down to her nipples, and back to her tail. Due to a lack of skin for grafting, she had to be put down soon after being brought to the vet.
The Rodgers say they can't imagine who could have done such a thing. But whoever is responsible faces a Class C felony charge, which means up to 10 years in jail and a $5,000 fine.
The Rodger's other Beagle, three year-old Buttercup, was found with minor cuts and seems to have escaped before further injury could be inflicted.
Anyone with information leading to Anne's torturerers should contact the Cullman County Sheriff's office.
