It is amazing that a dog can have that many. I read yesterday of a dalmatian that had eighteen puppies this year and sixteen last year. There is no way they can take care of all of them by herself.

Wow. Was the conception natural or was it assisted with fertility drugs? It seems like the poor mother really was under a lot of stress. Next up for the mother, spaying - I hope.

It's great that the dog was in a vet's care and I agree with others that posted that given the large size and that the mother of this one also had unusually large litters, it might be safer to have her fixed. But then I am one of those ...get dogs from the shelter kind of people anyway.

I hope they are able to find homes for all the puppies. Hopefully the owner's will now spay her so she will not have to go through that again. Poor thing.

Forget about carrying them, poor thing has to nurse them too! Can't stop mother nature, but with all the unwanted dogs already, (don't know if it's the same in Israel), more isn't great. I have seen pit bull litters at shelters that have been as high as 12. Mom is goofy within 4 weeks with them.
