City Dogs Lead Walk Toward Cancer Cure

Browse News

For the first time in New York, Veterinary Pet Insurance hosted their K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walk at Cadman Plaza in Brooklyn. People came out to walk across the Brooklyn Bridge in the name of pets who had been lost to cancer, as well as for those pets still suffering from cancer.

VPI will be holding their next K9K Pet Cancer Awareness Walk in Long Beach, Calif., on Saturday, Nov. 14. Early registration ends Nov. 2, but event day registration is available for $30, with all proceeds going to benefit the Animal Cancer Foundation.

For more information on upcoming K9K Pet Cancer Awareness walks, visit the Animal cancer Foundation Web site at ACFoundation.org.

Kudos to New York, Veterinary Pet Insurance
I lost my Ashley to bone cancer, so this article was such a touching story. I would love to honor and help pets that have been passed from cancer.

Rest in Peace my sweet Ashley, you are not forgotten

what an an absolutely wonderful idea! I hope one day we eliminate cancer in all forms, human, canine, feline, or other.....I have been fortunate not to lose a pet to cancer, but as far as human friends and family I have had a lot of loss. I really hope we can find a cure FOR EVERYONE.

It is great to see that even in the rain people came out to support this great cause. My brother lost a dog to cancer; it would be wonderful to see a day when no one had to go through that!

This is a great idea. I'm sure it is a comfort to those going through cancer with their pet, to have others supporting them.

This is great! You always have walks for prevention of cancer in people, but having it for animals is unique. I lost a cat named Teddy Bear to cancer a little over a year ago, and he was in terrible pain and could hardly breathe. We had to have him put down, and that's the first pet I ever had to go through that with in all my many years with all my many pets.

That's a nice idea. And knowing everyone walking around you has been through the same tragedy as you have, brings people closer.
